Critical Role Season Four Introduces the Fighters Group

From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a exciting storyline featuring angels, fiends, and malevolent powers expanding in strength within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure lie ahead.

The Combat-Oriented Party Unveiled

Episode 3 concluded with a dramatic pause and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.

This warrior group consists of Teor (brought to life by Travis Willingham), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), the cleric (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Dividing the Cast

Considering a large ensemble, it was obvious from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.

This explains, the initial installments of the new season serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Questers.

What Defines the Soldiers Table

Per the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where diplomatic options are rare.

Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric the cleric might look mismatched, but the events of the latest installment show why these particular heroes are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

First, the team has a clear idea where to go next after a violent initial meeting with the antagonists.

A former ally of Thjazi—whose passing initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, assaulting the character, and stealing all the enchanted items to sell off.

The traitor then cleared his liabilities and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd close behind.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a specific drive to leave the city Dol-Makjar:

  • Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks retribution.
  • The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and cautions that it is a nasty location.
  • The warrior and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to execute the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as key figures in the powerful family could enable the party enter places they normally couldn’t.
  • Furthermore, The grateful character vowed a eternal obligation to The cleric for his salvation and will now go with him anywhere.

Pursued by Authorities

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that govern the setting for a multiple motives, making staying in the city dangerous:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are notorious outlaws.
  • The strong figure and Wicander defied the powerful family and the horde of evil beings they are aligned with.
  • The target is targeted for elimination by House Halovar.

This means them few options but to journey toward the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

Based on episode three’s post-show segment, we find out that the combat party won’t be around next week, leaving the remaining eight participants to assemble the Questers and Planners tables.

Viewers can anticipate learning which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, released on next week.
